I remember this LostArt Rob. When I got my first job, (@JohnMartinsPetShop) I would buy a Pie from the downstairs Cafe’ & carry this TREASURE across the road to be devoured very un-ladylikely on the steps of the Museum. It was radioactively HOT! It’s consumption consumed most of my lunch break, – in a symbiotically happy relationship, – giving me JUST enough time to sprint up the stairs to wink @ the Diprotodon or marvel at that SunFish or HeadHunters, – before resuming bagging guppies & recommending MasonPearson brushes for mutts!

I can swear, [on a stack of HumphryHoneyLogs] that I have NEVER been to TheSANFL (C’ARN YOU EAG’S!) & not had a Pie. I cannot comprehend of such behaviour, but IF it exists, – it’s ABERRANT Jane, ABBERANT! (For Damian to consider though, Pies taste BETTER when ‘square’. They just do. And molten. So I’d consider a re-fit of the OldShopPieTins, & crank up that temp’ in the ‘Warmer in the face of lawsuits!)

Jane , Thanks for the walk down memory lane , ‘ I so remember the days in the old school yard ‘ ,no choice of gourmet pies in those days, you took a stand , you were either a pie person or a pasty person ! Who recalls learning the art of slurping around the edges of a hot pie in a vain attempt of not spilling any of the delicious contents ! Rob

Yes, I spoke with Damian yesterday and it’s been 15 years. I have no recollection of the early years, we would have just moved to Paris then. He now has another address called ‘House Cafe Bakery’ at the beach on Jetty St, Grange but I haven’t been there yet.

You nailed it Jane, consistently good and high quality. But is it really 15 years? I recall when it sold and It’s the first time I’ve seen the roof of the bake house. Obviously I’ve been too intent on getting inside and grabbing my order to notice the roof.
