Jane I read this lovely post a while ago when we were away on holidays. It's a beautfully descriptive piece of writing, and would make anyone want to come and live here! On another note, my sister Jen and her entire family of eleven are off to Paris for two weeks holiday today, armed with your book. They'll have a wonderful time. Love Anne.

Hi Jane,
Yes,we are very lucky at Kilkenny, our children have the opportunity to cook with some very high profile chefs and gain fantastic skills. It does occasionally make dinner times difficult, having little gourmets to please. It makes serving up bought pasta tricky when they can make pasta from scratch!
I had a very fussy 6year old who turned his nose up at almost everything. He is now 10 and the child who sears his own fish for sushi. There is very little he won’t eat. I put it all down to peer pressure, if all the kids in the class are eating something you are going to look pretty silly if you don’t.
My dad ( the grandfather volunteer) is very proud of the work he and the children do in the kitchen and is loved by the kids. How cool to have your “Poppy” at your school every week!
Wish I had known who you were when I showed you the way to the kitchen as I am reading Family in Paris at the moment and loving it!
