Three French Foodie Gifts

Yesterday, I joined a delicious three-hour ‘walking seminar’ with the renowned tour company Context Travel. Called Baguette to Bistro: Culinary Traditions of Paris, this particular walk provides a wonderful insight into the food traditions of France, with visits to some of the city’s top gourmet shops. I promise to bring you the full story when I get home but in the meantime you can read more about the walk here.

The tour ended near the chic Left Bank department store, Le Bon Marché and I headed straight for the fabulous food hall on the ground floor, La Grande Epiciere, to take a look at the recent refurbishment.

Of course, that was a mistake. Did I really expect to get out of this one-stop-gourmet-heaven empty handed?

An hour later I found myself unloading a laden basket at the checkout.

Here are three great foodie gifts I picked up but you can read more about the treats available at La Grande Epicerie in Delicious Days in Paris.

A pot of mustard from Edmond Fallot, the last independent mustard mill in Burgundy, along with sublime confiture from France’s jam queen, Christine Ferber.

A pretty bowl for your morning hot chocolate from the sweetest, old-world chocolate shop, Chapon.

Now I must run! I have to pack and zoom back over to the Left Bank for tonight I am lucky enough to be spending the night  in one of Paris Perfect’s gorgeous apartments.

What an amazing time you are having. How are you not 128 kg? Ordered your book online through Penguin today. Cannot wait for a signature on it when we have a real Adelaide coffee.

Love to sign a copy for you.
P.S. I have done so much walking here and climbed so many metro stairs that I’ve lost 2 kg! That’s the secret…plus the four-bite rule for anything sweet.
